Measured By Character

By 380news | Spiritual

“In a moment, in a split second, your whole life can change.” Our family knows this well because on the morning of Good Friday, April 6th 2012, like sand that falls through the open fingers of your hand, there is an appointed time for each and every one of us. For Ryan Blakely White, my son at the mere age of 18 just weeks away from graduating at Aubrey High School, his time was 10:13 that morning. On FM 428 in Aubrey, TX. is where Ryan took his final breath. Shattered and broken into pieces with a pain I cannot explain, I found myself pouring my heart and grief out through tears and words on paper. As each shattered piece…Read More

Small Church Big God  In cooperation with others in the Little Elm Community, Living Word filled over 200 shoe boxes, about 16 cases with Christmas gifts for children. Ready For the Election To Be Over?

By Pastor John Theisen, Midway Church | Spiritual

It has been hard to get through a day without a mention of the presidential election. Whether the news, co-workers, or bumper stickers it is practically unavoidable. Voters are frustrated, embarrassed, and fearful about the result. I really appreciate the thoughts expressed by pastor-author Max Lucado in a blog post on October 11th. Here is a condensed version of Lucado’s “prediction” about the morning after the election. November 9th will bring another day of God’s perfect sovereignty. He will still be managing the affairs of the world. His providence has never depended on a king, president, or ruler. And it won’t on November 9, 2016. “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, Like the rivers of water;…Read More

What Do You See?

By John Henry Theisen / Lead Pastor / midwaychurch.org | Spiritual

Driving down the 380 corridor, what do you see and sense? Any number of things might come to mind including the following: frustration; thoughts of a longer commute; more traffic lights; business opportunities; “different” people; a higher price for our homes; higher taxes to fund schools and utilities; loss of intimacy; more strangers; uncertainty; windshield chips. Can we pause for just a moment and consider another perspective that is a bit less centered on our personal comfort and convenience?
