According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), 19 inches of rain fell in one hour on the Greenbelt and nearby land. Mayor Ray Smith Declared October as Clothe a Child Month in Prosper

Mayor Ray Smith (left) declared October as Clothe a Child month in Prosper at a recent Town Council meeting. Area Director John Taylor accepted the proclamation on behalf of the all-volunteer organization. Clothe a Child raises funds and recruits volunteers every fall to provide new school and winter clothes for school-aged children enrolled in Prosper ISD schools. The organization also works in the Frisco, Little Elm and Celina school districts and hopes to provide $100 vouchers to some 3,000 children total. July Jubilee in Little Elm

July Jubilee was successfully moved from the beach area due to the high flood waters. The crowd came to the new location in the park to celebrate this annual event! It was one big picnic as attendees visited the vender area for great food throughout the event. Hundreds of visitors opted for the free bus rides to the area which alleviated the parking congestion that the event has had in the past. The streets were lined with cars at the parking facilities at the local businesses as they prepared to watch the fireworks from afar instead of directly at the park area. Ryan Students Given Statewide Music Award by TMEA

The Ryan High School Band had three students recently recognized as Texas Music Scholars by the Texas Music Educators Association. Ryan High freshmen Luke Owens, Skarleth Santibanez and Arielle Smith were honored for the outstanding commitment to scholastic merit, musicianship and citizenship within their school and community. Denton ISD District Wins TASB Grant

Denton Independent School District has been awarded a $4,000 grant for loss prevention from the TASB Risk Management Fund. The funds will be used for safety initiatives to reduce the potential for property loss, on-the job injuries improve emergency management operations or raise awareness of safety issues. The grants were only awarded to 180 Texas school district and education entities.
