DENTON, TX – The 18th Annual Pulling for Kids Sporting Clay Tournament, has benefited CASA of Denton County since its inception in 2001. Since then, Pulling for Kids has raised over 1 million dollars towards services for children who have been victims of abuse or neglect in Denton County. In 2017, with the combined support of sponsors, donors, in-kind supporters, 73 teams, and 345 players CASA hit the bullseye and raised just over $150,000 to further the CASA mission. Of course, the organization wants to continue this success and is shooting for another recording breaking year on Friday, May 11th. In keeping with tradition, this event will be held at the Dallas Gun Club in Lewisville. Additionally, CASA will be hosting a gun raff le and serving breakfast with the help of Swirl Bakery, Einstein’s Bagels, and Shipley’s Donuts. During the afternoon, Spring Creek Barbeque will be serving a tasty lunch followed by an Outback Steakhouse dinner served with Miller beer provided by Fisher59 as a terrific ending to an enjoyable day.

Proceeds of this fun fundraising effort help cover the costs associated with the recruitment, training, and oversight provided to current and future volunteer advocates. The more volunteer advocates that are engaged with the CASA mission, the more children the organization can serve each year. In 2017, through the advocacy of 229 trained community volunteers, CASA proudly served 604 children who were removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. While CASA has continued to grow over the past 26 years so have the needs in North Texas. Even with the highest number of volunteers serving the CASA mission in 2017, CASA was only able to serve 87% if the children navigating the child welfare system. It is the goal of CASA to serve every child eligible for CASA services. Every participant, sponsors, shooters, or volunteers alike, can make a big difference for our smallest Texans having the loudest voice advocating for them in court.
