Drivers swept away by fast rising waters

McKINNEY, Texas (Feb. 20, 2018) – McKinney Fire Department rescued four people from cars swept away by flooding in Towne Lake Park. Swift water rescue crews used a boat to bring two people to safety. Two others were able to walk out. There were no injuries.

Roads around the park are being shut down as this area is known to flood during heavy rains. Do not drive around barricades or underestimate the power of this water. It takes just six inches of fast-moving water to knock over an adult and just a foot of water to carry away a small car.

Editor’s Note: There are no pictures or videos of tonight’s rescues.
