Want to help Hagerman? Join the Outdoor Crew: maintain and improve habitat and keep trails trimmed and trash picked up. Message us with your email address to be notified of specific details about each workday. Meets first Tuesday and fourth Saturday of each month, holidays excepted.

Butterfly Garden Docents Meeting
Saturday, March 3, 2018, 12:00pm – 1:30pm
Bring a brown bag lunch and learn more about the garden docent program at Hagerman NWR. Visitors welcome.

Early Bird Guided Walk
Saturday, March 10, 2018, 8:00am – 9:30am
Master Naturalist Jack Chiles will lead our first Early Bird walk for 2018, weather permitting. Meet at the Visitor Center. Bring binoculars or borrow ours. Return in time for the Second Saturday program.

Second Saturday: Bluebirds
Saturday, March 10, 2018, 10:00am – 11:30am
Learn more about the Bluebird at this presentation by Dr. Wayne Meyer, Associate Professor of Biology, Austin College.

Nature Rocks at Hagerman NWR – Spring Break Fun–Free
Tuesday through Thursday, March 13 to 15, 10:00am – 3:00pm, Friday 10:00-12:00
Head on out to the Refuge for Spring Break fun for youngsters and their families! Enjoy crafts and more while learning about nature. No registration needed, except for the special 2:00 Tram Tour, 903-786-2826.

The Refuge Rocks – for Ages 4 – 12
Saturday, March 17, 2018, 10:00am – 11:30am
Turn Green! It’s Spring-time! New plants are pushing up and sprouting buds and leaves. Learn more about how plants grow at our free nature activities program for youngsters. Parent/responsible adult must accompany youngsters in the 4 – 7 age group.

FOH Nature Photography Club

Nature Drawing & Journaling Workshop
Saturday, March 24, 2018, 10:00am – 4:00pm
Join us for another Walt Davis Workshop! Participants will help choose the topic for the workshop, see attached file. Spend the morning indoors with instruction and the afternoon sketching outdoors, weather permitting. Bring art supplies and brown bag lunch. Workshop fee of $35.00, no refunds for cancellations after March 19. Limited to 20 participants, first come first served. Email for more information: friendsofhagerman@gmail.com

Annual Meeting – Friends of Hagerman NWR
Sunday, March 25, 2018, 3:00pm – 4:30pm
Members of the Friends of Hagerman, as well as anyone interested in the organization, is invited to the annual meeting. Hear reports for 2017 accomplishments, State of the Refuge address by Refuge Manager Kathy Whaley, and elect directors.

Special Spring Break Tram Tours! Tuesday-Friday, March 13-16 at 2:00 pm. Recommended for adults and children six years old and over, call for reservations.
Take a guided tour of the refuge with an expert birder aboard the open air, all-electric Carlos and Eulalia Cardinal Express! Enjoy a trip along Wildlife Drive and some of the Pad roads at the Refuge, with frequent stops to view and photograph wildlife, especially birds. Learn about the history of the town of Hagerman and the operation of the refuge.

This 60-90-minute guided tour is offered during Spring Break and every Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm, weather permitting. Seating space is limited; please call to reserve your seat: 903-786-2826 between 9am-4 pm Monday thru Saturday or from 1pm to 5 pm on Sundays. Please speak to a volunteer when making or cancelling a reservation as volunteers are unable to access messages on the Refuge phone system. Tours are free of charge; however, donations to the tram maintenance fund are appreciated.
