DENTON COUNTY, TX – This monthly column is to continue to maintain open communication with the residents in Precinct 1 by sharing updates on events and issues in Denton County. Watch for regular columns and stay informed on your area. Should you have any concerns you would like to share with Commissioner Coleman’s office, their contact information is included at the end of this article. Frisco Government Center Now Open The new Precinct 1 Frisco Government Center officially opened for business with a grand opening celebration June 29. The Frisco Government Center is a 24,000 square foot facility located on 3.5-acres near the intersection of Lebanon Road and FM 423 in Frisco, Texas, and replaces the existing facility in The Colony. This has been a priority of mine since I took office years ago and I am pleased that we can now bring county services closer to our residents. Service provided in this building include the Justice of the Peace, County Constable, County Clerk, Tax Office, and Adult and Juvenile Probation.

State Representative Pat Fallon also has an office in this building, along with me and my staff. Court, approval was passed for the engineering design services for US 377 and FM 1515 to Teague Nall and Perkins. The county’s evaluation committee recommended the firm of Teague Nall and Perkins as the most qualified firm for engineering design services for the US 377 and FM 1515 project. The plan is to widen US 377 from US 380 to the Denton/Grayson County line as a six-lane divided urban facility with raised medians throughout with curb and gutter. Precinct 1 County Road and Bridge Updates FM 2181 North-South – Widen from two-lane to six-lane divided roadway from the City of Denton/ Corinth City limits to Lillian Miller in Denton. FM 2499, Section 5 – Main lane paving FM 2499 and State School Road. Estimated completion date is November of this year Lake Sharon extension – City working to finish acquisition of remaining right of way.

Special commissioners hearing rescheduled for July 19, 2017. Union Hill/ FM 455/ FM 2164 Realignment Project – TxDOT has taken over management of this project. Rockhill Road/Arvin Hill Road Project – Revisions to 100% plans to accommodate changing offsite conditions and concerns. Phase 2 design plans are at 60%. US 377/Arvin Hill/Stewart Road Intersection Project – Realign the roadway to create one intersection instead of two on US 377 at the Stewart and Arvin Hill intersections (this is part of larger Arvin Hill project to widen roadway and improve drainage.) Schematic and traffic study have begun. Sam Bass Road Project FM 455 North of Nance Road – Design plans at 95% is due for submittal this month. TxDOT will be acquiring needed right of way for intersection realignment.

Project scheduled for completion December 2018. Pruett Road Project FM 1179 to FM 455 – Construction began February 13, 2017; scheduled for completion September 2017. Duck Creek and Pecan Valley Road Projects – Coordination between all parties is ongoing. Hackberry Creek Park Road – Base map and survey completed; design plans have begun. McReynolds Road, Sanger – Contractor began work on the project last month. Right of way acquisition complete.
