Report cites quality of water used by residents
PROSPER, TX – The latest report on the quality of the drinking water the Town of Prosper distributes to residences and businesses is now available online, at Town Hall, and at the various Town facilities. “The Water Quality Report is a publication that is not only required by state and federal regulations, but also serves to provide residents with critical information regarding this important resource,” says Tristan Cisco, Prosper’s Water Education Coordinator. The three-page report, while distributed this year, reflects results from calendar year 2016. The report appears as a downloadable or printable PDF file at http://www.prospertx.gov/wp-content/uploads/CCRWebPub2016.pdf.
The report states, “The Town of Prosper’s drinking water supply surpassed the strict regulations of both the State of Texas and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which requires all water suppliers to prepare reports like this every year.” Published and distributed by the Public Works Department, the report is developed in conjunction with the North Texas Municipal Water District and is produced annually. Its distribution also satisfies a requirement of the Town’s State water distribution permit. It contains critical information on the results of quality tests that are conducted on the water which Prosper purchases and distributes through its system. In addition, it includes a list of substances which could be in the water; the latest information on the overall quality of the water; a handy list of definitions and acronyms; important water-related health information; and a detailed list of substances detected in the water as a result of a random sampling.
“Any resident who has any question regarding the water and its quality should carefully review the report. And, of course, we are always open to answering questions or dealing with concerns,” said Cisco. Residents are reminded that the Town remains in Stage 1 of the water conservation program until Oct. 31, barring any change in the status. Watering with automatic irrigation of lawns and landscaping may be accomplished twice a week. Some restrictions, however, are in place and are listed on the Town website, under the Departments tab, Water Conservation page.
