Meet Colleen Watson, Stretch 4 Life’s New Colleague  Have you ever heard of Orofacial Myology? Stretch 4 Life hadn’t either until we met this professional lady named Colleen Watson. Colleen, an Orofacial Myologist, just so happened to be in the booth next to us at Martie Whittekin’s Natural Health Fest in Richardson. She had an anatomy picture of the Deep Front Line, which shows the myofascial connection the tongue has to all the muscles down the front of the body to the toes. At Stretch 4 Life, we use Anatomy Trains (such as the Deep Front Line) every day to analyze our clients’ postures and determine which muscles are out of alignment. As we discovered, Colleen does this same thing to analyze the mouth. After talking with Colleen, we realized we both had the same perspective on how the body was designed to function. Our businesses both have a common goal in showing our clients an alternative to surgery and medication. Furthermore, we both have a passion for helping people get out of pain and find joy in living life with good muscular-postural function.

That being said, we would recommend Colleen’s services in a heartbeat! While practicing as a dental hygienist, Colleen continually observed patients whose dental health had been compromised by existing Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs). Colleen made a commitment to expand her scope of practice by completing post graduate training in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy. OMDs are disorders of the muscles and functions of the face and mouth. The orthodontist is an artisan when it comes to moving teeth! However, if the teeth are properly aligned within a hostile muscle environment, the stability of the final result is threatened. The muscles can slowly reject the new position of the teeth, and contribute to undesirable tooth movement. Working with an Orofacial Myologist like Colleen can help you to regain the joy of eating, speaking, breathing, and even sleeping more soundly.
