All Denton County gardeners are invited to enter the 2017 Denton County Fruit, Vegetable, Herb and Flower Show on Saturday, June 10, at 9:00 am at the Denton Community Market. This is an open show sponsored by the Denton County Master Gardener Association and any resident of Denton County is welcome to enter. There are two divisions: Youth (18 and under) and Adult (over 18). The show is an educational event focusing on best of species. All entries will be judged on a combination of market qualities: maturity, appearance, fragrance, color, size, uniformity and freedom from blemishes, pest damage and disease.
Difficulty of growing in the North Texas environment will also be a factor. Fruits and vegetables will also be judged on flavor. Enter as many categories as you like (e.g. plums, peaches, onions basil, rosemary, cosmos, etc.) However, only one entry per exhibitor in each class or crop type is allowed. No combination of species is eligible in any of the classes. Ribbons will be awarded for the first three places in each class. Division champions and Best in Show will receive rosettes and cash awards. Awards will be presented at noon or immediately following judging. Show ends promptly after award ceremony.
