Pilot Point has been a flurry of activity this year. The community has enjoyed a mix of projects consisting of final plans for the Chamber of Commerce and EDC building, state recognition of the School District, several business expansions and new business openings. This year saw more permits for new homes than were issued in the past three years combined. The City of Pilot Point welcomed the expansion of Chandler Cabinets, Trim Line, Revved Automotive Concepts, Ernesto’s Mexican Restaurant and Nick’s Italian Restaurant. New businesses in town included Old West Coffee Company, Boots and Bows Daycare, Neu Plumbing, Buff’s Grill, Small Town Furniture, Ralph’s Cocina, Twisty Donut and Uppercut Granite.
New homes are being constructed near downtown along Gee, Hill, and Church Streets. Besides new homes and expanding business, the EDC is working on several community development projects. The EDC anticipates beginning construction for the Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center in January 2017. This building will serve as the economic development hub for new and existing businesses in the community with offices for the EDC, Chamber of Commerce and Main Street. The EDC and the City are planning new park locations with access to the Lake Ray Roberts Trail System. The EDC is working to bring fiber optic internet to the community to provide high speed, reliable internet that supports commerce and data transmission. The intent of these projects is to improve the quality of life for all citizens in Pilot Point. We are excited about the progress we have made so far and look forward to things to come in the New Year.
